Negotiating with God

Many people do not want to associate with God because they cannot comprehend God from what they have heard from others about God.

What I want to do here is to let you know that you can negotiate with God. It does not matter if you know God or not. The idea here is to get God to reveal more of himself to the extent you ask for. I want to present an excerpts from the scriptures of a man that successfully negotiated with God. God is principle, and you can negotiate with God if you learn how Moses did it.

Exodus 33:12 -21:

Moses and the Glory of the Lord

12 Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

15 Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

17 And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

19 And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”

21 Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”

Reverend Uma Ukpai commented that it was when God passed by that Moses saw His back and was able to see what he wrote in the book of Genesis. God can help you understand things done before you were born and also gain insights into things yet to come.

I can assure you that GOD IS LOVE against everything you have been told of God. Do not imagine God as a holy majestic being above weilding iron rod and watching when you will sin so that he can beat you up and throw you into hell. No, see God as a loving father whose love is patient, tender and excessive, wanting to have a relationship with you. How you see God shapes how you relate with him. God is actually trying to negotiate with you, teach you, guide you, help you and allow you to be happy, have peace and succeed even in mundane things of the world you choose to pursue.

Until you begin to experience God, you will find it difficult to believe in his existence based on the accounts of others. Yet, you must draw close to God before God draw close to you. Remember that Moses approached the burning bush, and not that the burning bush approached Moses.

Yes I know that God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent but it I wonderful to know that the Almighty God keeps those characteristics aside when it comes to having conversations/communion with His children like you and me. Even earthly parents come down to the level of their children when they want to have a conversation with them. Believe me when I say that God is ready to come down to your level, nomatter who you are to meet you and communion with you. Indeed He is waiting! God is wisdom, He wins us unto himself. Any man/woman God has touched with his love and grace usually go crazy after God spontaneously. God knows this. Remember how all it took for Elisha to leave all to follow Elija was a single touch of mantle.

The only barrier between us and having father-child relationship with God is unbelief. Unbelief that God truly exist all by Himself, unbelief that he is interested and mindful of you, unbelief that the death of Jesus settles your debt of sin completely and finally, unbelief that God is present now and wants to build a relationship with you. Remember that of all the people that left Egypt, only Joshua and Caleb made it to Cannan. The explanation why others failed to make was docu.mented in Hebrews 3:19.

19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.

God is not offended when you doubt and say how can it be. This was the difference between the disposition of Mary and Zacharia. Whereas Mary asked Gabriel “how can it be”, Zacharia said “it was not possible”. Then Gabriel explained to Mary and caused Zacharia to be dumb. May people are dumb today because they are telling God about all that are impossible.

But like Thomas, if we tell Jesus ” show me”. He will indeed show us so that we can then experience him and shout ” .y Lord and my God”.

Thus, even if you do not belief before now, can you tell God to convince you instead of telling him that He is impossible. Tell God to explain Himself to you. I know that you will see God if you seek him. Try it, relate with him as a father and see how, like Moses, he will discourse, negotiate and show you his glory.
